Medium Range Wireless Switch System

The RCT Medium Range Wireless Switch System provides dependable wireless control for applications requiring communication over greater distances. The system includes a two-input transmitter and two-output 12 VDC receiver, along with the required power supplies, relays, antennas, antenna mounts, and coax cable. Once the control connections are made and the antennas are properly installed, the system is ready for operation.

  • 27 MHz FM radio communication
  • Up to approximately 2 miles range
  • 2 dry-contact inputs
  • 2 relay outputs
  • 12 VDC relays rated 6A at 250VAC or 30VDC
  • Includes high-gain antennas, antenna mounts, and coax cable
  • NEMA 4X plastic enclosures

Operation is simple: connect a switch, float switch, pressure switch, or other device with a dry-contact output to one of the transmitter inputs. When the contact closes, the transmitter sends a wireless signal to the receiver, activating the corresponding relay output. When the contact opens, the receiver relay deactivates, turning off the connected control circuit.

The receiver provides two relay outputs rated at 6A at 250VAC or 30VDC.

Operating Environment

  • Indoor or outdoor
  • Operating temperature: -40°F to 140°F

Medium Range Wireless Switch System FAQs

How far can the Medium Range Wireless Switch System communicate?
The system can provide wireless communication at distances up to approximately 2 miles. Actual range depends on terrain, obstructions, antenna placement, and other site conditions.

Does the system require line of sight?
No. The 27 MHz system can operate in non-line-of-sight applications. However, terrain, buildings, trees, and other obstructions can affect range and performance.

Where should the antennas be installed?
For best performance, the antennas should be mounted outdoors and as high as practical, with consideration given to terrain and obstructions between the transmitter and receiver locations.

What can the Medium Range system control?
The system can be used for pumps, valves, motors, conveyors, grain augers, lights, PLC inputs, alarms, and many other applications requiring remote switching.

What type of control inputs does the transmitter accept?
The transmitter provides two dry-contact inputs. Closing an input causes the corresponding receiver relay output to activate.

Can the Medium Range system be used at locations without utility power?
Yes. Solar power kits are available for remote locations where conventional electrical power is not readily available.
